Word Games

From Bush's comments Monday morning:

"Make no mistake about it; if we had known that the enemy was going to fly airplanes into our buildings, we would have done everything in our power to stop it," Bush said.

Now, this just seems like an attempt at literalism by the admin. to avoid future problems ala Saddam definitely has WMD's. I don't doubt that Bush might not have been told precisely that airplanes would be flown into buildings, but I know he was told there was increased activity by terror cells and that it looked like something big was going to go down. Rarely is there a specific threat that comes down the pipeline to be stopped - it's always a general threat that could turn into violence in any number of places. That's why it's necessary to go on high alert, get all the data you can and figure out what the plot is.

All the delaying, smearing and general troublemaking the admin is involved about this 9/11 commission report makes me think they know they screwed up.
