What Liberal Media?

June 19, 2004

Back in January, CBS explained that it does not run "advocacy advertising" when declining to run ads from MoveOn.org and PETA during the Super Bowl.

Apparently, at CBS only progressive causes use "advocacy advertising," while conservative and reactionary attack ads are not advocacy. Media Matters reports that
CBS might air a new "anti-Clinton ad".

Meanwhile PressThink reports on biases in newsrooms: Are Newsrooms Too Liberal? Very Tricky Question.

A major trade journal enters the bias battle looking for answers. It wants to know: how liberal are the nation's newsrooms, really? "Liberal journalist" does not automatically mean that the news has a liberal slant. But if the goal is to gain ground in the bias wars, it's the opposite. Then liberal journalist does mean "news biased toward liberalism." Automatically so.
